A New addition to the 2018 Winter Fair was the Royal Welsh Winter Fair Taste Awards. A Competition designed to showcase the many specialized products produced here in Wales, this year's taste test focused on lamb from native welsh breeds. Gareth Ward, an award-winning chef from Ynyshir restaurant in Machynlleth, food specialist, Nerys Howell and the active chef of the Celtic Manor, Mike Bates was the judging panel of three. There were 6 breeds competing. With pride we announce that the winner of the ‘Native Lamb breeds of Wales Taste Test’ competition at this year's Winter Fair was the Welsh Mountain Lamb of Hefin Jones, Bryn Ddraenan Padog. If you want a delicious Sunday lunch; make sure you cook a piece of Welsh mountain lamb.
