Lambing percentage

On the mountain, a lambing average of up to 130% can be expected, rising to 180% on lower ground where conditions are more favourable providing a substantial boost to the ewe where it can graze on the more abundant improved pastures


It is possible for pure-bred Welsh Mountain lambs to weigh up to 17kg.  Crossed with some other breed of terminal ram such as the Suffolk, Texel or Charollais, lambs with higher weights of up to 19kg, can be produced.

Whatever the circumstance, farmers can be certain of producing top quality lamb and tender and tasty meat that will be very popular with customers who expect the best.
